Admission Guidelines

Guidelines for Four Year Under-Graduate Program with Honours with Research

Students who secure 75% marks and above in the first six semesters and wish to undertake research at the undergraduate level can choose a research stream in the fourth year. They should do a research project or dissertation in the major discipline under the guidance of a faculty member of the University/College in the eighth semester. The research outcomes of their project work may be published in peer-reviewed journals or may be presented in conferences /seminars or may be patented.

Eligibility

A student will be allowed to take admission in the Major Course of B.A. if he/she/transgender has passed in at least four (04) subjects with English as compulsory subject in the Higher Secondary [10+2] Examination held by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other Examination which is recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.

Admission will be on merit and availability of seats, provided that for SC/ST Candidates, the minimum marks for eligibility will be as per rules of the State Government.

⦿ University Registration
After admission the college will timely call for filling the University registration forms.( For 2023-24 A.S the Proposed last date of submission 12th September 2023

⦿ Assignment of Roll No
After admission the college will award Roll No. to each student.

⦿ Issue of college identity card
Students will be issued Students’ Identity cards after university registration is done.

⦿ ACADEMIC TERM
Academic SESSION-2023-24
The academic session which normally commences on the 1st day of July of every year but this year it will be from 1st August 2023.

⦿ Refund Policy
In any circumstances, no online application (registration) fees refund shall be allowed. No such application will be entertained.
For obtaining a Transfer Certificate (TC), a sum of Rs.100/- will be charged.

Key Points In University Regulations

One Credit is equivalent to one hour of teaching (Class Lecture or, Tutorial with Special Lecture) or two hours of Field Work/ Extra Curricular Work per week in a semester. One Credit is equivalent to 15 class lectures of 1 hour each (Source: UGC Curriculam and Credit Framework, December 2022).
➤ There will be at least 90 teaching days in each semester excluding periods of examination admission, field work and dissertation.
➤ Major course (MAJ) – 75 marks each [60+10+5] [3 Yr. 16 Courses, 4 Yr 20 courses with Research or, 23 courses without Research but Course 21,22 & 23 contains Research Methodology, Project/Case Study and Group Discussion/Seminar]
➤ Minor courses (MIN) – 75 marks each [60+10+5] [3 Yr. 6 Courses, 4 Yr 8 courses]
➤ Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC) – 50 marks each [30+15+5] [3 / 4 Yr 4 courses]
➤ Multidisciplinary Courses (MDC) – 75 marks each [60+10+5] [3 / 4 Yr 3 courses]
➤ Value Added Courses (VAC) – 100 marks each [80+15+5] [3 / 4 Yr 2 courses]
➤ Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) – 75 marks each [3 / 4 Yr 3 courses]
➤ Internship/Apprenticeship (IARD) – 50 marks [3 / 4 Yr 1 course]
➤ Research Project/Dissertation (IARD) – 200 marks each (applicable only if the student chooses to pursue Honours with Research) [Research Methodology, Project/Case Study and Group Discussion/Seminar]

Any one: Alternative English or, MIL Bengali or MIL Sanskrit I & 2 [B.Com]
2nd Semester & 4th Semester: Compulsory English 1 & 2 [B.Com]
Any one: Alternative English or, MIL Bengali or MIL Sanskrit I & 2 [BA]
[30 Marks MCQ using OMR Sheet +Viva-voice 15 + Attendance 5]
Value Added Courses (VAC) :
1st Semester: Compulsory Environmental Education [BA] plus
Any one: Understanding India or, Digital Marketing [B.Com]
2nd Semester Compulsory Environmental Education [B.Com] plus
Any one: Understanding India or, Digital Marketing [BA]
[80 Marks MCQ using OMR Sheet +Internal Assessment 15 + Attendance 5]
➤ All question papers of Major Course will only be in English version.
➤ All Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) and Vocational, if any and Internship will be conducted by the College, and marks will be submitted to the University.
All SEC examinations will be Assignment / Field work / Project / Industry visit based.
